Obituary For William Henry Hoffman Jr.
William Henry Hoffman Jr, a loving husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa, passed away
on Saturday March 1, 2025. He passed peacefully in his home in Newark, CA from Advanced
Heart Failure.
William, aka Billy, was born to William Hoffman Sr and Agnes Mary Andrew in Napaimute,
Alaska. As the family occupation, in Alaska, most of the earlier family members worked as fur
trappers. William left Alaska at the age of 17 and traveled to San Francisco, CA to attend
school. He was studying to become an airplane mechanic. Billy joined the Army National Guard
where he was stationed in Fort Ord. He ultimately settled in the Bay Area, where he met his
soulmate and best friend, Lillian Byjoe Hoffman. The two were wed in 1961.
Billy remained in the San Francisco Bay Area. He and Lillian raised their children predominantly
in Redwood City and later moved to their current home in Newark, CA. He worked at Forum
Industries, Inc as a Marble Fabricator Technician for over 30 years. Then went on to work
another 32+ year long career at Delta Star Inc as a Field Technician and Installer where he
travelled across the US to over 40 states to deliver transformers. He worked for over 62+ years
before retiring at the age of 84. Billy was a hardworking man who was dedicated to his jobs and
never complained. As one of his coworkers described him, Billy was “A Machine”. He was
known for his commitment, resilience, reliability and discipline throughout his career.
He was a kind-hearted man with a gentle disposition. He was always smiling and willing to lend
a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Billy loved the outdoors. Camping and fishing were his
passion. He loved the SF Giants, 49ers and Warriors. He loved reading and writing, especially
poetry and drawing doodles. Most of all, he loved spending all of his free time with his family
and watching his grandkids’, then great grandkids’ sporting and school events. He also loved
spending time doting over his beloved dog, Susie, who was his devoted companion.
Billy will be reunited with his brothers, Charlie, Jerome, Harvey, Gary and Phil. He is survived by
his wife Lillian Byjoe Hoffman, his sisters, Lillian Dunne, Bertha Hewitt and Dooksie Beans. His
