Obituary For Vicki “Kathain” Carlson-Roberts

Vicki was born to Robert and Ortencia Kathain on November 21, 1960 at Eden Hospital in Castro Valley, CA. She passed away suddenly on December 30, 2019 at Washington Hospital in Fremont, CA surrounded by her loved ones. A Fremont resident and graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, Vicki was a generous, giving, thoughtful, and selfless person who worked hard to make sure everyone around her was safe and loved. She was always a good “go to” person whenever there was a crisis. Vicki had a strength like no other. She was the one to teach her brother how to bat and catch a ball as a left hander as well as to play tennis because she needed a partner to play with. After the loss of her first husband at a young age and raising her first-born son on her own, Vicki met her husband of 35 years and had two more children. She worked tirelessly to care for her family and make sure her kids had a full, enjoyable life.

Vicki enjoyed many activities including track and field, dance, camping, vacations, and attending Oakland A’s games every chance she got. She enjoyed taking her three children on trips to Disneyland, Lake Tahoe and the family cabin in Dorrington. She loved watching her eldest grandchildren during their sporting activities. She enjoyed every minute she could with her eight grandchildren and was looking forward to the birth of her newest grandchild in April.

Vicki worked for McDonalds for over 25 years, as well as a variety of service industry jobs, and was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Fremont (formerly St. Leonards).

Vicki is predeceased by her grandparents, her first husband Matthew Carlson, sister-in-law's Ann Dorgan and Cindy Kathain, brother-in-law Ed Green, aunt Connie Moniz, cousin Connie Pino, and many beloved relatives. She is survived by her husband Carlis Roberts Jr.; her parents; her mother-in-law Faye; her children Matthew Jr., Carlis III, and Sarah; daughter-in-law's Jacqueline and Anastacia; son-in-law Comrade; grandchildren Josie, Carlis IV, Aleena, Bella, Cali, Cherish, Charlie, and Max; siblings Robert, John, Nellie, and Matthew; as well as many loving family members.
