Obituary For Valentino C. Felipe

Valentino "Valen" C. Felipe husband, father, lolo, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of February 7, 2023, in Pasay City, Manila, Philippines. Valen, having just completed a religious pilgrimage in his country of birth, was on vacation with his wife and best friend, Pilar Felipe, when he suffered a heart attack.

Valen is survived by his wife Pilar, and three adult children, Danna, Valentino II, and Lou with their spouses. His much beloved grandchildren, Ryan, Jaden Valentino, Ethan, Dylan, and Dahlia also survive him. Valen was the seventh of eight children born to Faustina and Feliciano Felipe. Of his siblings, Valen is survived by his sister, Violeta, and brothers Feliciano, Jr., and Cresenciano.

A graduate of the Far Eastern University with a-degree in Accountancy, Valen was determined to build a new life with his young family in the U.S. In September 1972, at the age of 28, Valen immigrated to the San Francisco Bay Area from the Philippines. Later in February 1973, Pilar and their first two children joined him and lived in Sunnyvale, California. Their third child, Lou, was born in the Bay Area in1977.

At the time of his passing, Valen was enjoying life in retirement with his wife of 57 years. He had a Iong career as an accountant and at its height he was a controller at Bell Electrical Supply in San Jose, California. Valen or, "Pops," as he was known to his children, was a talented home cook. He will always be remembered for his Filipino stew, Mechado, made with his Ina’s recipe with love.

A devout Catholic, Valen will be celebrated at a Catholic service at St. Victor Church in San Jose where he was a parishioner for over 40 years. The family welcomes their friends and relatives to join their celebration of Valen’s life on Friday, February 24, 2023.

Visitations will be held on Wednesday, February 22nd, 4pm–8pm and Thursday, February 23rd, 3pm–7pm with a Vigil Service at 5pm on Thursday at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 24th, 12pm at Saint Victor Catholic Church, 3108 Sierra Road, San Jose, CA. A burial at Gate of Heaven in Los Altos to follow.
