Obituaries

Susan lost her courageous battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her husband of 50 years Terry Ashton of Newark; her children: John Ashton of San Leandro, and Patricia Ashton of Alamo; her grandchildren: Dustin Fillion and his wife Tania, and Julie Ashton; her great-grandson Jason; her sisters: Vickie Bishop of Leavenworth, KS, and Gail Tully of Taylor, TX; and her nieces: Jeannette Smith, and Cynthia Ashton.

Susan was born in Alameda Hospital and graduated from Alameda High School in 1963. She went on to marry her high school sweetheart Terry and moved to Newark in 1974. She worked for Toys R Us for 28 years as a bookkeeper. Recently she celebrated her 50th anniversary at Disneyland.

Upon her retirement she loved trips to Disneyland, Reno, and Las Vegas with her husband Terry. Also she enjoyed crocheting blankets and making arts and crafts for her family and friends. But most of all Susan loved spending time with her family.
