Obituary For Sixto Vasquez Valadez

Sixto Vasquez Valadez, Sr. passed away on September 11, 2013 after a 2 1/2 year battle with lung cancer at the age of 76. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends at his home in Fremont.

He was born in Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico to Merced and Augustina Valadez on March 28, 1937. He came to the U.S. at a young age with his parents and siblings. He married his soul mate Petra Valadez in 1965 and moved to the bay area to raise their family.

Sixto worked part time at Julian?s Gas station and at US Pipe for more than 40 years where he retired in 2006.

His passions included fishing, boating and spending time with his family.

He was a loving and caring father, grandfather, provider and friend. Words cannot express how dearly he will be missed. He was so loved by all who knew him. He was strong, wise, generous and honest. A perfect role model! We were truly blessed to have such a great man in our lives and he will forever live in our hearts.

Sixto leaves behind his wife Petra, daughter, 3 sons, 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and 2 sisters. He was preceded in death by his brother Patricio.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19, from 4-8pm with a Vigil at 6:30pm at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 20, 11am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 40382 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA 94538. Burial will follow at Irvington Memorial Cemetery in Fremont, CA.

    Sixto will forever be in my heart. I know that Salvador greeted him in heaven. They are having a good time together like old times. I was so blessed to have known and loved Sixto. Please accept my sincere condolences on this hard moment in life that we all have to go thru. I love you guys sooo much.
