Obituary For Sandra Jeanne Valdez

Sandra Jeanne Valdez passed peacefully on October 17th, 2018 after a one- year battle with cancer. Born on December 9th, 1936 in Richmond, California to Nello Filippi and Jeannette Hadsell, Sandra, “Sandy” to her friends and family, attended Richmond Union High School, graduating in 1955. Married to Uvaldo “Roy” Valdez in 1957, Roy and Sandy settled in Fremont, California with their three sons where Sandy worked for Sears Department Store until her retirement in 1998. Sandy relocated to El Dorado Hills, California in 1999 where she enjoyed a wide range of activities including membership in the Sons of Italy Club, membership in two Bunko groups, acting as Mistress of Ceremonies of the Gold County Lodge Chapter of the Sons of Italy, and participating in the annual Adopt a Family for Holiday Gift Giving Program. One of the great joys of Sandy’s life was the Mad Hatters, a celebrated group of women in El Dorado Hills who knit baby caps for newborns in hospitals in the county. Sandy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy, and her beloved son, Jeffrey. Sandy is survived by sons Steven and Mark Valdez, daughter-in-law Theresa Valdez, grandsons Joshua and Aaron Valdez, and great grandchildren Bella, Lana, and Joshua Valdez. Numerous friends and relatives will miss her infectious laugh, her thoughtfulness, and her love of life. Services for Sandra will take place on Monday, November 5th at the Fremont Memorial Chapel in Fremont, California at 10:00 am followed by a lunch in her honor. Flowers or contributions to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in memory of Sandra Jeanne Valdez are welcomed.

    Sandy will be fondly remember, especially for her smiles and warm personality. i am so blessed to have had Sandy in my world of knitting and luncheons.     Dear Family, I want to express my heartfelt sadness over the lost of your mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. I met Sandy through our knitting group in Folsom. She always welcomed me with such a warm and welcoming smile. She was such a dear friend and I will miss her. I am so happy to have met her as she added so much happiness to my life.
