Survived by her husband Sid Khan; her sister Juanita Williams: and her children: Alex Grant, Dave (Marcia) Grant, Sean Grant, & Ariana (Iftikhar) Khan. Her Grandchildren: Anthony Pedregal, Christopher Grant, Husam (Yumna) Khan, Hashim Khan, Nicholas Grant, & Amal Khan

Predeceased by her first husband Lee Grant, and her sisters: Emma Thompson & Betty Tucker

Born in Bunker, MO to Harry Marvin and Zula Ellen Williams. She followed her sister Juanita to Florida, where she became a journeyman proofreader for the Miami Herald for 7-1/2 years. She had box seats to the 72 Democratic convention, and actually met and talked with Coretta Scott King. She traveled to England 3 times in the early 70s, and loved to discuss her heritage and any anyone else's that she met. Then she moved to Redwood City, California, and became an operating room assistant at Stanford Hospital (where her name is still on a wall plaque there - for 20+ years of service). While there, she helped unionize her dept., and was elected union steward.

She attended Hillview Church in Union City, and regularly volunteered at Friends of the Union City Library. She was an avid (repeat avid) reader and collector of books, and a news junkie. She also helped teach English as a Second Language (ESL) to Afghan women at her church. She was much loved by all her extended family, and her laughter and long talks will be missed by all.
