He was an avid sports fan and loved all Bay Area teams but was partial to the Oakland Athletics and Oakland Raiders. He enjoyed watching his grandsons play baseball and soccer. If he wasn’t at the field he enjoyed watching the videos and looking at photos. He absolutely, loved golfing. He spent quite a bit of time golfing with his buddies, sons and grandsons. He had 3 Hole in One’s at Mission Hills in Hayward. Two of those were recorded ( 7-13-10 #7 & 6-17-14 #9) and placed on a plaque, hanging at the golf course. He enjoyed sitting outside, sipping on a Budweiser, listening to music and wave to people that passed by. Words cannot describe how much he loved his family, and the joy to see his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought a smile to his face always. His beautiful eyes, smile and witty sense of humor will always be remembered.

Rudy, and I used to hit golf balls in the back field at Duplex products! Rudy you were always nice to me, you gave me strength which you had plenty of. You always took the time to listen to me. When I would call you, your wife always let me talk to you. Rudy you were a Happy man, with laughter everyday. I know you are listening to me! See you on the other side! John Minjoulet

I remember our hikes around Pinecrest Lake, I remember laying on that big pillow with grandpa watching tv on Hartnell street, I remember coming down the street after work and grandpa was outside sipping on a beer , he saw me and tried to hide it. I pulled up and told him , “nice day for a beer” I will remember him calling games and umpiring Julian’s game from the stands and teasing Isaiah about sitting in his recliner. I will remember that every time my brother Gabe came over, he forgot I was there. I will remember the unconditional love he had for my grandmother and our family. His beautiful eyes, infectious smile and humor will not be forgotten. I will cherish the memories of my childhood and of the last few years that I lived with him for a lifetime. I love you Grandpa Rudy !

When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. Rudy was a real treasure. He was never without a smile and a hug whenever we were with me. We loved to watch him try to tell a joke without laughing so hard he couldnt finish the joke. It's hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember.

Rudy touched our lives in so many ways. Every time we were with him he had a smile and a hug for all. One of our fondest memory is Rudy trying to tell a funny joke or story, without cracking himself up. It is hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember. Vera, Bev and Barbie

We were visiting Dan and Olivia in Watsonville, CA. Rudy and his wife were there. We were all sitting and talking in the sun room. Rudy saw his wife from the corner of his eye heading in our direction. He quickly took his beer and set it under his chair. 🙂 So his wife wouldn't see it.
