On July 22, 2022, Ruben Vegas, beloved father, grandfather passed away at the age of 65. He leaves behind two daughters, Arlene Vegas and Delilah Gonzales, a grandson Rudy Steve Campos Jr., son-in-law Eric Hernandez, ex-wife Sharon Gonzales, sister Judy and brothers Jimmy, Danny, and Tony. Along with many dear friends and family. Ruben was preceded in death by his beloved first wife Loretta Vegas, brother Benjamin, Mother Fe, Father Benjamin, and sisters Rebecca and Linda.

Ruben was born in Oakland, California on March 5, 1957. He grew up in the East Bay of California. Ruben had a passion for cars. You could always find him working on one. If he didn’t know about your car, he would get a book and read all about it. He even started his own little business “Ruben’s Mobile Repair”. He was someone you could aways count on. He volunteered many years with LOV Newark, worked Bingo nights, summer recreation, and helped with Newark days. He loved being a part of the Victory Outreach Church in Hayward. Ruben loved with all his heart. He believed in and loved our savior.

Ruben held many positions throughout his life, from car stereo installer, Carpenter, Assistant Manager at an auto salvage yard, to most recently working in nursing care facility. He was someone who easily made connections with people. He had compassion for others. While working in the nursing facility he always made sure the patients were comfortable and had what they needed, even if it came from his own pocket.

Please join us for services that will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA. Viewing will be from 11am to 1pm with a Memorial Service starting at 1pm. Ruben will be cremated following these services and laid to rest with his beloved first wife later.
