Obituary For Remedios “Remy” Franco Gordon
Our beloved Remy passed away on June 18, 2025 at her home after a few weeks of treatment for Acute Myloid Lukemia. Up until that time she lived a happy, active and healthy life.
Remedios “Remy” Gordon was born on June 28, 1943 in the Philippines. Remy was the daughter of Matilda and Jose Franco and grew up in the Philippines with her brother Bobby. Remy graduated from Maryknoll College which is now Miriam College. Remy married her first husband Jimmy Jimenez in the Philippines and gave birth to four daughters: Marie Rose, Maria Antonio (“Cho Cho”), Maria Victoria (“Vicky”), and Maria Margarita (“Candy”). In 1972, the immigration to the United States began for Remy and her family. All family members became U.S. citizens. Remy and her husband divorced after entering the U.S. After her divorce Remy worked hard, sometimes two jobs, to support her life and family. In her career she worked for several companies as an executive administrative assistant. Ultimately, Remy retired from VISA.
On November 11, 1995 Remy and the love of her life Glen Gordon married. They traveled the world together based on Glen’s consulting profession, spending time in Canada, Germany, Belgium, Philippines and many major cities in the U.S. A few years after their marriage Remy and Glen became “ocean cruisers”. Generally taking one or two cruises each year. In fact, they had a cruise planned to Hawaii in November of this year to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary.
Remy is lovingly remembered by her brother Bobby Franco (Gloria) and Bobby’s son Al Franco (Shela), nieces Abby and Aleah Franco, daughters Marierose Bombon (Reynaldo), Cho Cho San Pedro (Mike), Vickie Davis and Candy Angeles (Alan); her stepson Kevin Gordon and stepdaughter Susanne Arnette; her twelve grandchildren: Jennifer Bombon (Gabe Cisneroz), Mathew Bombon (Audrey), Mika San Pedro, Jordan San Pedro, Christopher Huffmaster (Angela), Antoinette Batallones (Neal), Brandon Angeles, Isabel Angeles, Evan Gordon, Charlotte Gordon, Sam Arnett, Jr. and Anna Cate Arnett. Also remembering Remy and the love she gave them are the seven great-grandchildren: Kailey Cisneroz, Dominic Cisneroz, Ella Bombon, Isaiah Bombon, Aiden Huffmaster, Colton Huffmaster, and Ari Batallones. In addition to Remy’s family and stepfamily, members of Glen’s family have many fond memories of her. Glen’s sister Nancy Nugent (Allen), daughter Tammy Rogers (Sam) and Tammy’s son Brandon (Amber and children Jasper, Aticus and Clark), Nancy’s granddaughter Kaci and great granddaughter Kyah; and Glen’s brother Randy Hamaker (Shelia) including son Nathan (Lizzy and children Cooper and Jack) and daughters Meranda Campos (Brian) and Allie Hamaker (daughter Daisey). Remy was preceded in death by her parents Matilda and Jose.
In the Philippines, Remy has loving family members in the Castillo, Cay, Dei, Franco, Illustre, Leano, Ortiz and Parungao, families.
In addition to Remy’s family members, early in Remy’s life in the U.S. she became best friends with a wonderful lady Zeny Gabriel. Up until Remy’s passing she talked with Zeny frequently.
Remy’s life was a testament to grace, generosity, love and happiness. She will be deeply missed by all of those who had the blessing of knowing her.
