Obituary For Relio Gonzales Reyna
Relio Reyna was born on September 25, 1931 and passed away, surrounded by his family, on October 7, 2013. He was 82 years old. He is survived by his caring and devoted wife, Susie, his children, Relio Jr. and Kathy of Fremont; Mary (and her husband Ray Yardley) of Modesto; Salvador (and his wife Danielle) of Chico, and Robert (and his wife Debra) of Seattle, as well as six grandchildren: Robert Yardley, Evan Speer, Bianca and Cruz Reyna; Anam and Rhiannon Williams.
Relio was born and raised in Niles, California where he met the love of his life, Susie. The two of them were high school sweethearts and were married for 62 years. In 1956, they moved their family to Fremont and lived in the same house for 57 years where friends and relatives frequently gathered for celebrations and casual visits. The Reyna household had a reputation for excellent, home-cooked meals and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Relio greeted all of his guests as though they were family, and he will be remembered for his gregarious nature, teasing way, booming voice and infectious laugh.
In his youth and young adulthood, he loved playing sports; later he enjoyed going to casinos, and all along he has been a big fan of the Giants and Niners. More than anything, Relio was a devout husband and father, and for that he will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, from 8-10am and a Chapel Service will begin at 10am, all at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, CA.
