Ray Kyee, a loving son, devoted husband, adoring father, and caring friend and family member, joined the angels on December 1, 2015. But what a beautiful life he lived in such a short time. Whether cycling under the sun, golfing on the green, mastering J-turns on the track, trash talking on family game nights, traveling the world with his wife, or listening to jazz on the weekends with his little girl, Ray refused to let life escape him. Shortly following his cancer recurrence, he sent an email to his family entitled “Up For Another Challenge.” That simple subject line eloquently captured Ray’s positive approach towards life. His strength, his optimism, his deep appreciation for life, and his commitment to living it to the fullest have left an indelible impression on our hearts. His spirit will continue to live on in his daughter Addison, his wife Tina, his parents Leo and Annie, his mother-in-law Marion, his siblings Sabrina and Jeff, and all of his extended family and friends. His memory will remain ever-present within us and our love for him is everlasting.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 7th, from 5-8pm with a Vigil at 6:30pm at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 8th, 11am at the funeral home. Guests are encouraged (but not required) to wear whatever attire that reminds them of Ray, including but not limited to, Star Wars gear.

Ray was such a wonderful, kind friend. I will miss his funny sense of humor so much. He was taken way too soon. I'm happy though that he's no longer in pain.
RIP dear friend.

Sorry for the long story, but I'd like to tell a story of fate of Ray and I. We ended up working at three places together, well sort of... We worked together when he first had surgery years ago. Time passed and when I was at another company, I received a call from a past manager for a job, but I was happy where I was at, so I declined.
He kept pursuing me and I finally relented. When I gave my notice, I recommended Ray, as I knew he would be perfect for the job and since it was so close to where he lived, he could spend more time with his family, as I knew he was still going in and out of treatment.
Well, they loved him like I knew they would. Anyone that knows Ray knows how easygoing and friendly he is. A few weeks after I started my new job, the company decided to go through a restructure and I would be part of it. Ray found out and suggested I apply for the job he just left. He talked with his boss and I got the job, so we ended up switching jobs! I thought it was so kind of him to do that for me. We both ended up really liking our mutual bosses and co-workers very much, so we ended up having lots of friends in common. Ray and I had talked about fate many times and felt this was definitely one of those times. It wasn't a coincidence that fate led me away from my job, as Ray needed it more. We both ended up where we needed to be.
The last email and call I got from Ray was on Nov 13th, 2015, as we were planning to get together for lunch in early December. He said, life is good, he felt very lucky to have such good friends and family in his life and that we should never take anything in life for granted. I remember I asked him one time what he thought part of his Destiny was. He looked at me and said without hesitation, to be there for my family and friends. That was just like him, selfless to the end. Anyone who met him felt his gentle caring presence. I'll see you again on the other side my friend. Iona
