Obituaries

Ngoc- Dung Thi Nguyen, was born April 25, 1929, the daughter of Loc Van Nguyen and Han Thi Nguyen, in HaNoi, Vietnam. The family then moved to the South of Vietnam in 1943 and married to Can Van Huynh in January 1951.

The devoted wife and beloved mother who had been worked hard to raise her children during the Vietnam War. The housewife then learned to make cashew cookies, pastries and cakes and sold at Thai Thach and Khinh Ky grocery stores, and through the referrals of her sister and friends. She was proud that her customers including the South Vietnam First Lady, Prime minister's wife, wives of Saigon Officials and popular singers liked her cashew cookies, Christmas yule logs, peach tarts, cream puffs, durian cassava cakes. She also raised and sold chicken in the house in Saigon to make end meet and was able to send her children to well-known school, Marie Curie in Saigon then abroad. Moved to US in early 1988, she made chow fun and some deserts for her sister’s restaurant, Garden House in San Francisco.

After her husband passed away in 2008, she moved and lived in Union City with her only son and youngest daughter. Ngoc-Dung is survived by her children: My Huong Huynh and husband, Thanh Chi Nguyen of San Francisco, My Lan Huynh of San Jose, Thanh Huynh and wife, Ngoc Chau Nguyen of Union City, My Van Huynh of Union City, grand children: Natalie Thuy Tien Nguyen and husband Sean, David Chau Nguyen, Joseph Hoang My Ngo, Jacqueline Hoang Oanh Ngo and husband John and great grandchildren: Michelle Thuy Mai Chong, Aiden Tyler Trang, and Kyle Trang.

A Prayer Service will be held on Sunday, November 27th, 12pm at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 28th, 10am at the funeral home. A Witness Cremation will follow at 12pm at Irvington Memorial Crematory, 41001 Chapel Way, Fremont, CA 94538.
