Obituary For Michelle Lee

Michelle Yun-Yen Lee, 40, passed away in her home in Union City unexpectedly on June 1st, 2022. She is survived by her mother, Yue Men Lee, sister, Helen Lee and her cats Ping and Itsy. She is predeceased by her father Mike Lee.

Michelle was born on July 9th, 1981 in San Francisco to Mike and Yue Men Lee. She grew up in Fremont attending Weibel Elementary, Hopkins Jr. High, and MSJHS and graduating from DeVry University. Michelle has spent the last 14 years working in various administrative roles in the Stanford Healthcare system with the last 11 years at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. Her work fueled her desire to stay independent and contribute to the world despite her changing health conditions. Many thanks to her work friends for looking out for her and caring for her like family.

Michelle was a big Disney fan, loved to travel and enjoyed going to concerts and musicals. She played the piano and the gu-zhen and always experimented with different instruments and forms of musical expression. She traveled as often as she could and enjoyed road trips to Disneyland. Michelle made sure to travel the world and tried to capture how beautifully she saw the details of life through her camera lens.

Her memorial services will be held Sunday, June 12, 10:30am at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd in Fremont. In lieu of flowers please donate to Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue or Brave Beginnings in Michelle’s name. She loved her cats Ping and Itsy and hoped they could find a good home.

I'll always remember Michelle's bright smile and joyful heart. I had the joy to know Michelle since we were small children and would often go to her house to play with her and her sister Helen. Even when we were kids she would make food for us and take care of us younger ones. I'll always cherish the memories I had of Michelle and her spark for life, laughter and kindness will be deeply missed.

My favorite and most memorable moment of Michelle was seeing her just after I gave birth to Penelope. Her smile and warmth made the whirlwind of emotions that much better. Since then she always found ways to help my kids in the most thoughtful ways possible. Hopefully she is smiling from above and can continue to watch my kids grow.
