Obituary For Michael J. Rice
Michael J Rice passed away peacefully Saturday March 3rd at his home in Castro Valley. He leaves his son, Ryan Rice, two brothers Pat Rice and Tim Rice, sisters Ronda McPeek and Tracy Romero, two nephews Eli Rice and Trever Hatch, two grandchildren Mason and Teagan Rice, and many close friends and family.
Born in San Francisco and raised by his father Joe Rice, his mother Kae Rice and his step-mother Helen Hardy. Michael served in the San Francisco Fire Department for more than 30 years out of Station 28. He was an avid traveler and enjoyed taking trips all over the country with his girlfriend Barbara and his two dogs. Michael also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be sorely missed.

I recall working with Mike in San Francisco. Walking into the firehouse in the morning and seeing him as my boss was reassuring, and he was a breath of fresh air always. My sincere condolences to Mike's family. May he rest in peace.

Ryan, my condolences on losing your Dad and grandfather to your children. I only met him a few times but he seemed like a very gentle and happy man, even after all the trials and tribulations of the recent years. I was hoping he would win his latest battle too. He was too young. My heart goes out to you and all of Mike's family.
