Obituary For Marian Frances McBride

Marian McBride passed away peacefully in her home after a short illness on December 14, 2012 at the age of 88. Marian was born in Berkeley to Lester and Mollie Tubbs and resided in Oakland where she met and married her husband, Milas ?Tex? McBride in 1950. Marian and Tex were married for 55 years until Tex passed away in December 2005. They moved to Irvington Square, in the Irvington district, soon to be Fremont in 1955 where she lived until her passing. Preceded in death by her sister Katherine Johnson and her brother Harold Tubbs. Marian was one of the last original owners in the housing tract.

Marian is survived by her son Mike McBride and wife Nancy of Union City; her daughter Becky Hicks of Fremont; 4 grandchildren: James Manduca, Robert Manduca and wife Christie, Ronald McBride and wife Rebecca, Melissa Chow and husband Chris; 7 great-grandchildren: Danielle Manduca, Jacob Hernandez, Joshua Manduca, Robert Michael Manduca, Brandon Chow, Conner and Colin McBride; and 2 great-great grandchildren: Megan Manduca, Ethan Zimmerman.

Marian loved to travel and eventually traveled to all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South America, Europe, her beloved Ireland, Tahiti and many other locations. She was a Snow Bird for many years, traveling to Florida and all points east every September and returning to Fremont whenever she made it back home. She was an avid reader, loved to shop wherever she was and was a very generous and giving person to those she encountered.

Marian will be greatly missed by her family, her niece Nancy Devries and husband Craig, her nephew Bruce Hanes and wife Sylvia, relatives and her many friends she met throughout her travels.

A Memorial Service will be held for Marian on Saturday, January 12, 1pm at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Inurnment at Chapel of the Memories in Oakland, CA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
