Obituary For Maria Fatima Pimentel
Maria Fatima Pimentel, 89, of Newark California, passed away on Thursday, January 23rd after a long battle with Alzheimer’s, surrounded by those who loved and cared for her in her last years. Her daughter Esmeralda, granddaughter Kalicia, sister in law Gloria, daughter in law Jennifer, and caretaker Lorena.
Maria Fatima was born on October 9th, 1935 to Filomena Silveira Martins and Antonio Freitas Martins in Ponta Delgada, Flores.
In 1957, Maria Fatima married Antonio Pereira Pimentel. Maria Fatima and Antonio went on to have four children, Jose Antonio, Maria, Esmeralda, and Antonio.
Maria Fatima loved to cook for her family, garden, and spend time with her six grandchildren whom she helped raise. Her recipes for her famous cookies, pancakes, and soups will be carried on through her grandchildren.
Maria Fatima is reunited with her husband Antonio, son Jose Antonio, parents Filomena and Antonio, brothers Mario, Joao, Antonio, and Jose Martins, and many other loved friends and family in heaven. She is survived by her three children, six grandchildren- Kalicia, Kyle, Kelly, Austin, Bailey, and Danica, and two great grandchildren Kyllian and Kayden.
A devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, Maria Fatima will be deeply missed and we will cherish the sweet memories we have with her.
Rosary will be held at Fremont Memorial Chapel on Thursday, February 6th at 6:30pm, visitation 5-8pm. Funeral mass will be held Friday, February 7th, 11am at Saint Edward’s church in Newark. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, at 1pm.
