Obituary For Maria C. Amaral
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our wife and mother Maria Conceicao Amaral. She passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025 after a year long battle with cancer.
Maria was born on the Island of Faial Azores on May 21, 1943. Her parents were Joao and Clementina Furtado. In 1963 Maria married her husband of nearly 62 years Joaquin Amaral. Maria has 3 sons and a daughter (also Maria) who passed away at 6 weeks of age. Over the years Maria had 5 grandchildren. Aaron, Chelsea, Alycia, Amilia and Ellia. Also one great grandchild Violet.
In 1967 they moved their small family to California. She worked in a kitchen of a convalescent hospital for several years. Later she was a seamstress at a curtain factory in Union City. She did this for more than 20 years until she retired.
Maria was a devoted wife, mother and daughter. She took care of her own mother for 36 years until she passed away at 96 years old. She was a caring grandmother and great grandmother. She loved all her grand children. Her grandchildren were blessed to have known her. Maria was deeply loved by her family. She was wonderful to her daughters in law and the large extended family of nearly 100 relatives.
Please say a prayer for her. She will be with her daughter and parents that went before her. One day we will all be together again.

Very sorry to hear about my cousins battle with cancer. I will miss the phone calls and catching up we did once in a while. May she rest in peace and the family know she is with the lord, and you will all see each other again. Suzanne Carver

I loved Tia, she always had a smile, a beautiful heart and truly loved her family. I always enjoyed how comfortable and welcomed by her, and also such a great cook. My prayers to your family as you will miss her but knowing she is with God and at peace.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Maria Amaral. My sincere condolences to her husband Joaquin and her sons, Lollie, Luis and Lino and to their families. Maria loved her grandchildren so much. My late husband Jim and I were blessed to have Maria and Joaquin as our neighbors for many years. I will miss the morning visits over the fence and the wonderful smells of her fabulous cooking. Her spirit will always be with us. I'm sure Maria was welcomed home by our Lord and family and friends who passed before her.

My mother and I extend our most heartfelt condolences to all the extended families. To Sr. Joaquim, Lollie, Luís, Lino, and your children, may you find comfort in your hearts knowing that Sra. Conceição is at peace and her suffering has ended. Although her tired body is now at rest, her love and spirit will continue to live in all of you through the memories you've created with her.
