Obituary For Lawrence B. Soosaithasan

Lawrence Baptist Soosaithasan, 88, passed away on May 14th, 2019. He was born in Tellipallai, Jaffna, Sri Lanka to the late Mr. and Mrs. Celetine and Esabella Lawrencepillai. He attended St. Patrick’s College Jaffna and later St. Joseph’s College Colombo; obtained his degree from the University of Ceylon and built a career spanning several decades in the Ceramic industry. He lived life with passion, and was an optimist. He enjoyed the company of friends and family and delighted in sharing meals with his loved ones. He followed tennis championship matches and tracked the scores to the tee. He enjoyed gardening and traveling, volunteered at local hospitals and was active within the Sri Lankan community in Canada. He was a generous spirit who touched the lives of many from different walks of life.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife Regina Manonmani, and a sister Barbara Lawrence. He is survived by his daughters, Neeralini Janita and Sharmini Sheron, a granddaughter Nirupa Cortny, sons-in-law Lalith Galagedera and Murali Kanasabapathipillai, a sister Antonia Xavier and a brother Anton Lawrence.

He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and the broader Sri Lankan community in Canada.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Sunday, May 19, 2019 with a Vigil Service at 3:00 PM, Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd, Fremont. A Mass will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 10:00 AM, Holy Spirit Church, 37588 Fremont Blvd, Fremont.
