LaVerne E. Sa of Fremont, passed away peacefully at his home with his children present, at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bernadine Sa, his brother Arthur Sa and sister Lorraine Sa. He is survived by his loving children Patrick Sa and his wife Sharon, Bernadette Hughes, Diane Sa-Greer, Robert Sa and his wife Sherry, and Richard Sa. He is also survived by his sisters Mae Freitas and Delores Homen. LaVerne was blessed with 13 beautiful grandchildren and 11 adorable great grandchildren.

LaVerne was born July 6, 1930 in Niles. He started working at a very young age to help his mother and father on the farm. He entered the Army in 1951 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1953. He met Bernadine Francis, the love of his life, got married and settled down to start a family in 1956. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

LaVerne earned his living as a dedicated truck driver for more than 60 years. During his career, he drove more miles than anyone could count, met many friends along the way and cherished those friendships to the end. He enjoyed golfing early on, but his passion was always growing a garden of fresh vegetables every year. He did the daily crossword puzzle and word jumbles for more than 65 years and was sharp as a tack. He was the ROCK of our family and will be missed immensely.
