Obituary For Joshua Michael Schuett

Joshua Schuett, age 21, of Fremont/Modesto, CA left this world far too early on Jan. 3rd, 2018. He was energetic, driven, intelligent, a devoted Christian and lived life beyond his years in so many ways. Joshua was truly an inspiration to all of us. That made his passing all the more of tragic loss for all that he had touched in his short life.

Joshua was born in Ottawa, Canada on May 31st, 1996. He moved to California with his family in December of 1999, where they then settled in Fremont.

At the age of 13 Joshua was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. After his diagnosis, Joshua bravely fought through life dealing with the ups and downs of this disorder, and at the same time never failing to impress all of those around him with his accomplishments Joshua attended Ohlone College in 2013/2014 and then transitioned to San Jose State University where he graduated with a Bachelors in Civil Engineering in the spring of 2016 with the Highest Honors.

Shortly after graduation Joshua found a Civil Engineering position at CSG Consultants in Foster City. Joshua was able to quickly transition into this role at the same time impressing many of his fellow workers with his ability to take on many different responsibilities on the job while maintaining the highest integrity, attention to detail, and innovation that impressed even his supervisors.

Joshua was passionate about life in many ways. He was able to obtain a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He was very interested in real estate and was even able to purchase and then manage his own rental property in early 2017. He loved the outdoors and nature and in particular loved birds, dogs, hiking and the desert. Joshua was a Christian and a believer in the Lord Jesus. He read scripture to inspire him to cope with the ups and downs of life and through his mental health challenges.

He is survived by his parents, Michael and Camilla (Fremont), his sisters, Sarah Koo (Toronto, Canada) and Judith Ekwoge (Milpitas). He also leaves behind his 2 grandmothers, Joyce Schuett (Regina, Canada) and Agnes Epie (Cameroon) as well as many uncles, aunts and cousins.

He is predeceased by his 2 grandfathers, Leonard Schuett and Martin Epie.

A memorial service will take place on February 23rd at 2 PM at the Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd, Fremont, CA.

Dear Josh! I didn't know you all of your life but the moments we met touched me profoundly. Behind your illness was a handsome brilliant ambitious young man that I admired so much. You made me feel I could do things that seemed so impossible in my context. For you to leave, I feel like a part of my hope is gone, broken... I will always hold you close to my heart Josh. I love you Cuz! Rest in Peace. Your Cousin, Sharlyne

I will always remember his love for learning. He was a joy to know and to teach.

Joshua, my eyes filled with tears as I heard the devastating news. I find myself wishing it wasn't real. My heart hurts so much knowing that I never met you but my hope keeps me knowing we will surely meet in the world beyond. Everyone says you were a golden boy, I believe them because only the passing of a Prince could cause so much pain. Rest in Peace my dear Cousin until our first meeting. Your Cousin Julienne

Since he was 6 years old, I had the honor and privilege of getting to know Joshua throughout his life. As his 1st grade teacher years ago, Joshua demonstrated academic brilliance in all subject areas especially writing. At this young age, he showed a “strong-worth” ethic in the quality and quantity of all his assignments. He won our annual reading contest that cover the entire school year of 10 months averaging 24 hours per month of reading, totallying 14,400 minutes or 240 hours that time of reading. Besides receiving the Honor of “Best Reader in our class,” he received a gold medal and a special journal. As I stayed connected to Josh through the years, his passion and hard work in school never flinched. His mom and I use to babysit each other’s precious sons, Josh and Michael (my son). At one point, I considered Joshua, my adopted son. A few years went by, he gradually encountered severe personal challenges to conquer. Without the strong love, support and attentiveness provided by his parents was 100%+, he would not had succeeded in School. Therefore with his family, his hard work, his determination and his great passion passion in education attributed to Josh graduating HS two years earlier, graduating at Ohlone College and 2 years later graduating at San Jose State College, with the highest of honors Suma Cumlade with a BS in Civil Engineering. Throughout those times, he thoroughly enjoyed running, hiking, and camping with his Dad, Michael. Although he was not someone who openly expresses personal thoughts, I know he adored the times he had with his Mom, Camilla. He loved talking, sharing the Bible, and praying with his Mom. I know this because he had told me. Sometimes, he and I had short conversations at Panera and on the phone. Also, he enjoyed the times he had with his sisters, Sarah and Judith. I know he also appreciated the amazing spiritual support he received through “Resonate Christian Church” where he was baptized and accepted. The

I only knew Joshua for a short time, but his impression is longstanding. He was certainly wise beyond his years. I had the pleasure of working with him on the purchase of an investment property while he was only 20 years old. I have not only bragged about his accomplishments to colleagues and family members, but used him as an example to many young people of what can be achieved early in life for those who work hard and stay focused. It is with a heavy heart that I write this as I had great hopes of seeing Joshua’s future successes and accomplishments. My condolences and prayers are with the Schuett family.

Cloud's Son by Vibhuti Singh He came on clouds White and soft He smiled through his naughty thoughts Seeking but not following the world He searched love under his worn out clothes He walked fast as he was beyond distance He was bleeding drop by drop Nobody saw him dripping And one night he broke the boundaries of the sky and earth Dusting away the craziness of the world He climbed on clouds And lifted himself away The cloud's son

Dear Michael , Camilla , Sarah, Judith and family, My family remembers Joshua with such love and fondness, he has gone way too soon, but as a family we have such wonderful memories of him, building a snowman on the beach in Tahoe on one of our Winter Ski Breaks together is a memory I will treasure, such joy, fun and happiness from both our boys sharing a childish , fun , moment together . He was such a sweet boy and I will always remember his sweetness and will feel happy that we knew him for some of his short life. Sleep peacefully sweet Joshua

Even in the relatively short time that I knew Joshua, I quickly learned that he was someone that cared about other people, constantly going out of his way to spend time with friends and meet new folks, quick to make them feel welcome. Through him, I also got to meet new people and have positive experiences. Joshua sacrificed much of his own free time and money to make others happy, and for that, we can all hope that he shall be remembered for his charity and good nature.

I met Joshua on December 23, 2017 we had a cookie decorating party. He came over and decorated cookies with us. He was a pleasure to be around and I thank him so much for his great friendship with my son Joe.

I knew Josh for a very short period of time and in that short time I got to know a very special guy. We shared a love for adventure and of open spaces which is why we hiked around the Sierra. He always kept up no matter how tired he got. I'll miss and remember him always as that guy who refused to walk behind me and always took the lead.

I first met Joshua in July of 2017. He had just started coming to church and had the look of someone who felt completely out of place. That was the only time I ever saw him with that look. Josh was the kind of person who made people feel welcome. He made friends everywhere he went. He always wanted people to think of him as selfish, but he was always quick to help others in need. I don’t think he wanted anyone to recognize that about him. Josh was one of the most passionate people I ever met. He was always trying new things, exploring places, meeting people, and everything he did, he’d involve as many friends as he could. There is no doubt in my mind that Josh touched countless lives. I know he made a profound difference in mine. In the short time I knew him, he became my closest friend. He inspired me in so many ways and I know I am a better person for having known him. I can’t even imagine how great his loss must be for those who knew him longer. To his family and loved ones, I am so sorry for your loss.

Joshua's memory brings a smile to my face as he was so engaged in every conversation, and appreciative for any offer of input/assistance/networking. I loved our conversations about investing and life. Joshua was an amazing young man and will truly be missed.

I didn't know Josh for very long, but the time that I did get to know him was truly a blessing. I met Josh shortly after I moved to California and he was always so positive and caring. Whether it was us going out into town, or us just sitting and catching up with each other, I knew that I had made an amazing and genuine friend. Josh touched the lives of many and actually brought a lot of us in our group of friends together. Josh was a friend that will always be in my heart and his family will be in my best wishes as we all endure the days that continue to follow this horrible and saddening loss. I truly hope you are at ease my friend. Thank you for everything. You are and always will be missed.

You made it home! Joshua, I know you made it home. I know everything is so beautiful and so serene on the other side. Even though your untimely exit has left a painful void in our lives, I am comforted knowing that God Almighty has you in the shelter of his hands. I am comforted knowing that there is no sorrow and no pain where you are. You will never hurt again Joshua! Sometimes we never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory. I cherish the little times we spent together. Those treasured memories I will hold so close to my heart until we meet again. Because I know yours will be one of the first faces I'll see when I get there. I know it is very peaceful and sweet when the angels sing…"Go On JOSH, TRY YOUR WINGS!" Adieu Sweet Nephew till we meet again. Love & Miss You Aunty Evelyne

Josh, how do I talk to you now? I kept postponing meeting the young man you had become, holding on to the kid at six whom I had met. Oh! Not out of lack of love, just putting things first instead of people. Can you 4give me Josh? I really hope you can. I got side tracked by manmade obstacles instead of listening to my heart. My entourage in Cameroon remembers how bent you were in seeing ostriches in their natural habitat, cages were out of question. How you clung to your stretch. We shared so little but it meant soooo much. Josh, what else can I say, your troubles, pain, frustrations and worries are over. You are now in a better place. Look out for us PLEASE. You came, you saw, you conquered. God Speed Josh. Your Aunt Rose Mbole EPIE Freedom was the thing you cherished most in this life, and the one thing you could never fully have. Your concern at very young age at why the Ostriches at the Zoo were not in their natural habitat touched me deeply , and helps me now to understand how much freedom meant to you even at that age. You are now free my sweet boy, free with the lord where all is made perfect and whole. Until we meet again. Your loving Auntie Irene Life is like a dream. You just can't hold on to it. It slips away from you even as it happens. Knowing you was like a dream, a beautiful dream, so profound that it will ever leave my memory for as long as I live. Even though my experience with you lasted only a few short months, you touched me in a very special way with your unique personality, the brilliance of a mind far exceeding your years your youthful exuberance and your smile which only came on rare occasions. You saw the meaningless of life as described in Ecclesiastes while your age mates saw hope and a future. An old mind in a young boy! I will miss the tomorrow's that we could have shared and long for the day that we will meet again in God's heavenly kingdom. Adieu my beautiful boy. Your loving Aunt Elizabeth E

I met Joshua twice and all I can say was when I met him I knew that he was a very special young man. He may be gone too soon from this earth but heaven has gained an angel. I pray that the Lord give the entire family comfort during this very difficult time. May Joshua’s soul Rest In Peace. Senge Balimba
