Obituary For Joseph Anthony Abreu
Joseph Anthony Abreu entered into rest on June 5, 2015 in Fremont, at the age of 79. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Shirley Abreu. His children, Brenda DeCosta (Larry) and Joseph M. Abreu (Paige); grandchildren, Lauren Dupuis (Mike), Lindsay Putre (Chris), Steven DeCosta (Carin), Megan Abreu and Logan Abreu. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Mabel Abreu, daughter Joela Abreu and sister Bernadine Goularte.
Joseph was a life long resident of Fremont. He was born on September 23, 1935 in Niles and graduated from Washington High School in 1954. He was a realtor for 40 years and owner of Century 21 Mission, member of Elks 2121 in Fremont and Washington Parlor Native Sons of the Golden West. Avid golfer and fisherman who always enjoyed trips to Alaska every year fishing for salmon and halibut.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 5-8pm with a Vigil service at 6:30pm, at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 12, 12pm at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 37588 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. A private family burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church or to donors favorite charity.

Joe was a wonderful realtor to work with. I remember him well from the days when I was an agent at his century 21 realty office in the 1980s. He spared no effort to always make things right for the agents working in his office. The Christmas parties were always a huge extravagance and the best. We always greeted each other in Portuguese my native language his second language. We also talked about how I now live in the land where his parents and grandparents used to grow potatoes in their farm in north Fremont. Yes Joe was a wonderful man that I am glad I had a chance to meet and know. Rest in peace my friend Joe Fraga

Joe was a wonderful boss and friend. My mother Jackie Scott worked for him for many years. I cherish our years at Century 21-Mission, we had a great group of people, made many good friendships and I have fun memories from back then. It was like a second family. Joe created that. I am a so glad, I was able to stop by a few months ago to say 'Hi" to Joe and Shirley. I am sending prayers to Joe, Shirley and the family. Joe you touched many lives and are going to be greatly missed by many...
