Jose R. Ortega, 58 April 26, 1960 – August 21, 2018, Union City native.

Jose Luis R. Ortega born to Maria R. and Alfonso L. Ortega in Yuma Arizona raised in Union City, CA. Sibling to Ponciano (Anita,) Alonso (Martha), Lourdes (Jose), and Alfonso (Rosenda) Jose was survived by his daughter Cassandra R. Ortega and his granddaughter Mikayla Maria (MM) along with his loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Jose served in the Army in the early 80’s. When he returned home he later enjoyed spending his early years coaching his daughter for UCGSA and competitive teams. When he became a grandfather Jose’s focus was loving his granddaughter, Mikayla. His greatest accomplishments were his girls. He was devoted to his family, it brought him joy to be surrounded by his siblings, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. Aside from family, Jose was a huge San Francisco Giants fan. Jose was a reliable employee to Costco for 29 years. Jose will continue to live through his families memories, especially those of his Daughter and Granddaughter.

Jose closed his eyes to rest Monday night, passing in his sleep early morning August 21, 2018.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 5:00 PM, Sunday, August 26, 2018 with a Vigil at 3:00 PM, Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont. Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 703 C Street - Union City. Concludes at the church.
