Obituaries

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our son, Jose R. Rodrigues. Jose was a beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend.

Jose is survived by his parents, Larry and Michelle Gutierrez of Tracy and Jose R. Tolentino of Milpitas. He also leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory, including his siblings: Michael Rodrigues, his wife Jessica, and their children, Jesse and Rosie of Hayward; Larry Gutierrez Jr., Gabriel Gutierrez, and Alyssa Gutierrez of Tracy; Giovanni Munoz-Tolentino of San Jose; and Jerald, Jerem, and Jacob Tolentino of Chula Vista. He is also survived by his grandmother, Helen Diaz of Tracy; his aunts and uncles, Jennifer and Jeff Souza of Tracy, and Coulette and Randy Castle of Elk Creek; and his cousins, Kenneth Byrd III of Tracy, Jessika Rodrigues-Heerman of Sacramento, William Gutierrez of Sacramento, Matthew Rodrigues-Hutton of Tracy, Aiden Souza of Tracy, and Alex, Andrew, and Aizlyn Soares of Jackson.

Jose is reunited in heaven with his grandparents, William Rodrigues, and Honorio and Luz Tolentino, as well as his great-grandparents, Silverio and Flora Diaz, Peter Rodrigues, and Manuel and Joanne Pacheco.

Despite life's challenges, Jose absolutely loved life and his family; we were his everything. He would call daily just to check in on everyone. Jose loved listening to oldies, eating asada tacos, and visiting the San Jose flea market in the summertime. He enjoyed walking in the sunshine, wearing out many pairs of shoes, and always loved getting new clothing. Jose loved God deeply and held a special bond with Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Virgin Mary, calling upon her in times of trouble. If you asked him what his favorite feature was, he would say his smile, though others would say his laughter—or both. Jose was incredibly thoughtful and funny. Despite not having much in this lifetime, he always found ways to gift his Mom with meaningful treasures. He was her gift in so many ways.

Jose will live forever in our hearts.
