Janet embraced the community of Newark where she lived, worked, and volunteered in numerous organizations. Her contributions to the Tri-City was her way of using her God-given gifts for the service of others.
Janet’s Tri-City involvement gave her much satisfaction and joy. She was known for her complex spread sheets, perfectionism, diversity of occupations and skills, her energy, enthusiasm, and compassion for those in need. She crocheted blankets for terminally ill babies and hats for sick children and adults.
Janet’s first contribution began as a volunteer Administrative Coordinator for the newly organized Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Her volunteer contributions included Neward Rotary, Graffiti Abatement, Newark Planning Commission, Newark Chamber of Commerce, Newark Library League, Viola Blythe Community Service Center, Neward Education Foundation, and Touchstone for disabled children. Janet’s leadership skills enabled her to serve as President, Chairman, and Ambassador of these organizations while remaining humble and gracious.
As an animal health technician, Janet worked alongside a Veterinarian. She also worked at a Pharmaceutical Company for 15 years in the Pathology/Toxicology Department. Janet co-owned Acorn Training Group where she taught Microsoft Office classes to Newark’s fire and police departments. Most recently, Janet was employed as a Metrics Analyst at Morpho Detection, Inc. located in Newark. Janet kept her health issues private while continuing a very active public and professional life.
Washington Hospital gave Janet excellent care. Her family would especially like to thank Dr. Reddy, Dr. Sadiq, and Dr. Kumaravalli, all other doctors, nurses, and staff for their compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Viola Blythe organization in Newark (www.violablythe.org), the Humane Society (www.humanesociety.org), American Heart Association (www.heart.org), Newark Community Emergency Response Team (www.newarkcert.org), or Newark Rotary (www.newarkrotary.org).
