Obituaries

Gregory Olivera Garcia, 92, of Fremont California, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at his residence with his grandchildren by his side. Gregory was born in Decoto, California, which is now known as Union City, to Thomas Garcia and Clara Olivera. He lived his whole life between Union City, Hayward, and Fremont.

Gregory was a passionate man who enjoyed helping his mother with his siblings Joe and Vicki and learning about automobiles. In 1943 Gregory served in WWII. He was in the 11th Airborne Division. He came home in 1946 to his family. Gregory then became a crane operator at U.S. Pipes. A job which he was very proud to say he never took a day off. In his spare time he enjoyed working on cars, gardening, reading the paper, and helping others out.

Gregory was happily married to Pilar Ferreno of Spain for 53 years. Gregory was an extremely dedicated father to Steven Garcia who also passed in 2000 and Kathy Garcia. Gregory is also survived by his grandchildren Nicole Cantu and husband Justin Cantu and Quianna Garcia. Gregory did everything for all his grandkids never did he tell them no. He also has 4 great grandchildren Dyanna, Klaudia aka Blue eyes, Justin Jr., and Maryah.

The family will be gathering on Sunday, November 30, from 3-5pm to celebrate the life of Gregory Garcia. They welcome all friends of Gregory Garcia to Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536.
