Obituary For Gilbert Eloy Lovato

Gilbert E. Lovato, 66, resident of San Francisco, CA passed away on June 22, 2020

He was born in Oakland, CA on October 22, 1953 to parents Benito and Cordelia Lovato. He grew up in Newark, Ca where he was an altar boy at St. Edwards’s church, Valedictorian from the Sonoma Boys Center, attended Newark High, served in the US Marine Corps, and attended Ohlone College where he obtained 2-AA degrees. Gilbert was a jack of all trades as a carpet & linoleum installer, veteran, and studied in philosophy. However, he was most passionate about his engagement in community issues where he was dubbed "Gabriel, archangel of the Bay" and projects in San Francisco as well as his love for motorcycles and traveling.

Gilbert is survived by his mother and step-father Alex and Cordelia Lopez of Newark, CA, his daughter Christina Brown & grandson Anthony Galloway of Fremont, CA, siblings Samuel Lovato of Newark, Ca and Barbara Castillo of Manteca, CA, amongst numerous nieces, nephews and additional family.

Gilbert is preceded in death by his son Jason Lovato, father Benito Lovato, sisters Loretta Vegas, Lucille Lovato and Lorraine McHugh.

Chapel Service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020, 9:30 AM at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont. Burial will then commence at 12:30pm at the Sacramento Valley, National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon.
