Obituary For Gerald M. Sullivan "Sully"

Gerald M. Sullivan “Sully” passed away peacefully in his Hayward, CA home October 27, 2019 at the age of 73. Gerald was born on July 31, 1946 in Massachusetts to John Joseph Sullivan and Johanna Daly Sullivan. Gerald was one of four sons; John, Gael, and Robert Sullivan.

At an early age Gerald and his family moved to Richmond, CA. In 1954 Gerald's father John Joseph passed away. A few years later Johanna married August Clare a widower with an adopted son Michael who died in 1965.

Gerald graduated from Washington High School in Fremont, CA in 1964. Gerald had two sons from his first marriage; Gerald Jr., and Johnny Sullivan.

Gerald married Carol Juarez Splan in 1982. Gerald helped raise Carol's children; Denise, David, Dennis, and Anthony Splan. Gerald had a daughter Erin and a son Raymond Sullivan with Carol.

Gerald was a proud member of many Unions; Teamsters, Local 70, ILWU Local 6, Local 1546. He started working at AC Transit in 1971. He became a member of ATU Local 192 while working at AC Transit. He was a Bus Operator, Dispatcher, Shop Steward, Vice President and President of the ATU Local 192.

Gerald loved all Bay Area Sports teams especially the Golden State Warriors.

Predeceased by his Father John Joseph, Mother Johanna, and Brother Robert Sullivan. Step Father August Clare and Step Brother Michael Clare. Step Sons Dennis and Anthony Splan.

Gerald is survived by many Grand kids and great grand kids and cousins and Family. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 with Vigil Service at 6:30 PM, Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 10:30AM, St Edward Catholic Church, 5788 Thornton Ave, Newark.
