Obituary For George Sekovich
George Sekovich, entered into eternal rest on December 28, 2017, he was 101 years old. George was born in Butte, Montana to Alex & Sophia Sekovich and enjoyed the company of five sisters. George had a 30-year career as a fleet maintenance supervisor for a truck and coach manufacturer. And not one to sit idle, Georgeâs interests and hobbies included billiards, dancing, bowling, fishing, gardening and wood-working, and he was an enthusiastic participant at Fremont Senior Center activities. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Marlys (1999), and his sisters, Angie, Mary, Rose, Sylvia, and Stella. George is survived by step-son Bruce Hodgkins (Jackie); grandchildren, Karen Dana (Guy), Kathleen Allen (David), David Hodgkins (Ping), Loraine Schroyer (John); great grandchildren, Phillip, Stephan, Annette, Leslie, Becky, Henry, Heather, & Robert. Services for George will be held at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, beginning with visitation from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018, and a Chapel Service at 10:00 a.m. on January 9th with a reception immediately following. Flowers are graciously accepted, as are donations to the Fremont Senior Center, 40086 Paseo Padre Parkway in Fremont.

George and my husband, Sam George O'Bill(ovich) were best friends from childhood and 'home' was Butte, Montana. While George 'got outta Dodge' via a bus line, Sam decided after a brief stint in the mines to join up with Uncle Sam (Army 42 yrs), but never lost touch with George. I first met George and Marlys when Sam and I married in 1980...Sam was a widower and, of course, it was my great fortune, first, to have God reserve this good man for me and, secondly, to have the pleasure of meeting the Seckovic family. While they were living in Seattle, Sam and I often visited and when they came 'south' they would be our guests. After Marlys' passing and my husband's, even though they had moved to No. Calif., the phone and mail was a friendship-keeper....so admired George's gutsy handling of the diabetes and dialysis regime and his always upbeat and good-natured personality...he was handsome, always pleasant and the Gentlemen's gentleman as well as being a gentle man. Keeping you in my prayers, dear Friend, asking God to be gentle with you in His mercy (which, of course He will). Will miss your calls and not being able to pick up the phone to call you, hear your laughing voice and receive a Christmas card stating, "Have a good one!". Rest in God's peace, George. In the 65 years that he was my Dad, I never got mad at him. He was firm but fair and helped me grow into manhood by his example. He will be missed.
