Obituary For Ewan Orion Fisher

Ewan Orion Fisher, April 23, 2020 to May 22, 2021. Beloved son of Elizabeth and Shaun and brother to Wren.

How do you sum up the life of a thirteen-month-old baby? Short. Unfinished. Incomplete. But not inconsequential. Certainly not immemorable. We carried him in our hearts and prayers for ten years before we knew him earthside. We have loved him every moment of every day since he joined our family seven weeks ahead of schedule. He brought so much joy to everyone who met him.

Ewan’s feet were terribly ticklish. He had a laugh that could warm the coldest heart. He loved to be “flown” around the house by his daddy. He loved his big sister indiscriminately and would follow her around the house, fast-crawling to keep up with her at every turn, no matter her attempts to escape him.

Ewan was on the cusp of walking and talking before he died. He knew “mama” and “dada,” and the only phrase we ever heard him say was “I love you.” He said it just the one time, and we will treasure it always. It breaks our hearts that the only place we will ever see him running is in our dreams.

Ewan is survived by his great-grandmother, Dorothy Schwab; his grandparents Janis and Thomas Saputo, Lula and Norm Charboneau, Harry John Fisher; his aunts and uncles, Jennifer and Tim Grinder (Alice, Ruth), Hope and Adam Fisher (Emma, Harper); and many more extended family members.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 5pm-8pm with a Vigil service beginning at 6:30pm at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 10am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 37588 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma, CA.

In lieu of flowers, perform a random act of kindness, plant a tree in Ewan’s memory through Save the Redwoods League, or donate to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and make a child smile.

Mamas and Daddies, squeeze your babies. Hold them close. Cherish their precious little lives.

Ewan, we carry your heart. We carry it in our hearts. Always.
