Obituary For Estella Naia Pine

Estella Pine, 87, of Fremont, California passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014 in her home with her children and two granddaughters. A Fremont resident for the last 61 years, she was born on August 8, 1927 in Horta, Faial, Azores to Jose Ferreira Porto and Maria Naia Porto. In heaven she joins her parents, 5 siblings, and husband of 44 years Eugene Pine.

She was a devoted Catholic. She enjoyed many things in life: gardening, cooking, and sewing. But above all she loved spending time with her family.

We can say Estella was one of many women who survived breast cancer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc., 2600 Network Blvd., Suite 300, Frisco, TX 75034 or online at www.nationalbreastcancer.org

She is survived by her children: Debbie Pimentel and husband Tony of Tracy, David Pine of Fremont, and Dennis Pine of Fremont; her two granddaughters: Alicia Ferreira of Escalon, and Farris and Rosaria Pine of San Leandro; her great-grandson Damien Tom of Escalon; and her sister Maria Teles of Flamingoes, Faial, Azores.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13, from 5-8pm with a Vigil at 6:30pm at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 14, 10am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 43148, Mission Blvd., Fremont, CA 94539. Burial to follow at 2pm at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine, CA.

An online guest book is available at www.fremontmemorialchapel.com for condolences and special messages to the family.

We were sad to hear of the passing of my Aunt Stella. A note that I had just written to her was sitting on my desk ready to mail the next day when the call came that she had gone on to be with the Lord. I remember the time when she had lived with my family and how she had taught me some sewing techniques. She always seemed to be at family gatherings willing to help or pitch in and bring some food. How she had visited with my Mom over the years especially the last few years of Mom's life, and the times we had talked by phone in recent years. She was not only my Aunt, but my Confirmation Godmother and she will surely be missed. We love you, Barry & Carol Costa
