Born February 25, 1936 in El Ebano, Mexico and entered into rest on January 29, 2014 in Alameda, California at the age of 77. Devoted wife to Abdon C. Chapa. Beloved mother of Sylvia Chapa de Suarez (Miguel A. Suarez, Sr.), Sandra Chapa (Darren Wittick), and George Chapa (Sandi Chapa). Loving grandmother to Miguel A. Suarez, Jr. (Andee Suarez), Michelle A. Suarez (David Garibay), Jesus A. Suarez, Marissa Chapa, and George A. Chapa. Caring great-grandmother to Alycea Suarez, Anthony Ryan Suarez, Julian Miguel Suarez, and Elydia Suarez Garibay. Cherished sister of Graciela Ramirez, and Elda Ramirez. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Elidya enjoyed cooking, and helping the community, her friends, and family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 3, from 4-8pm with a Vigil at 6:30pm at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 4, 10:30am at St. Edward's Catholic Church, 5788 Thornton Ave., Newark, CA 94560. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, CA.
