Efrain is survived by his mother, Leonor; his wife Carmen; his children, Julia, Alexsis, Xitlalli and Sebastian; his sisters, Maria Elena, Leonis, Chuchita and Lucha, nieces: Virginia, Wendy, Georgina, Marielena, Rebecca, Jimena and Paola, nephews: Jesse, Tony, Joshua, Matthew and Daniel and his brother-in-law Rodrigo, his spouse Erika, their children Matthew, Rodrigo and Katalina and sister-in-law Ireri, her spouse Tele and nephew Baldito. He was predeceased by his father, Jose Jesus.

Efrain was born in La Piedad, Michoacan, Mexico during a flood. He traveled to and from the states to visit his older sisters in the East Bay as a young adult. He met his wife, Carmen in Hayward in 1994, married in 1996 and started a family the following year. He worked as a laborer at LiUNA Laborers Local 304 and then became a structural welder with the Pile Drivers Local 34. He left his imprint in the San Francisco Skyline, on major bridges and infrastructure in California, going as far as Lake Shasta, Las Vegas McCarran Airport and most recently on California’s upcoming high speed rail.

He loved gardening, fishing, cooking his carnitas, eating and watching movies. He was a handyman, building homes for his chickens, doves, rabbits and garden beds for his chiles. He loved his children and was so proud of them in all their accomplishments, with his truck full honor roll stickers from middle school to college. He was the fun dad/uncle who loved to watch scary movies, play pranks, get everyone dancing and laughing. He was the life of the party, living life to the fullest.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov 3rd, from 5PM-8PM with a Vigil Service at 6:30PM at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd, Fremont, CA. On Friday, Nov. 4th, a Funeral Mass will begin at 11AM at St. Clement’s Church, 738 Calhoun St, Hayward, CA followed by a burial Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
