Obituary For Daniel Allen Christensen
Daniel Allen Christensen died unexpectedly in his home on September 16th, 2015 in Fremont, CA. He was 59 years old.
Dan was born on October 7, 1955 in Salem, MA to his parents, Frederick and Barbara Christensen. He graduated from Salem High School and attended San Jose Automotive Vocational School. The Christensen’s moved to Fremont where Dan worked as a master mechanic for Dodge for 25 years. He retired in 2009 and dedicated his remaining time to coaching boys’ soccer at Mission San Jose High School and mentoring in the local referee program.
Dan always had a passion for sports. As a youth, he ran track, and played soccer. He was an avid Patriots fan but adopted the 49ers as his local favorite. On game day you would find Dan either in the Niner’s stadium or watching from his living room couch. Dan was very involved in the Youth Soccer Program of Fremont. He was awarded Mentor of the Year and Ironman for exceptional contributions for Fremont Youth Soccer. However, what made Dan happiest was coaching his son’s, Danny, soccer team from the age of 4 to 18 years old.
Dan possessed an exceptional talent for diagnosing and fixing cars. He could listen to an engine and tell you the problem. Throughout his career, he continued to further his education and achieved the highest certification of Master Mechanic.
Dan is survived by his son, Daniel J. Christensen of Riverside, CA, whom is a firefighter for Riverside City and engaged to Katelyn Walker of Riverside, CA.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Thursday, September 24th at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dan’s life.
