Obituary For Carol Ann Gyulai

Dedicated mother, grandmother, and friend to many- passed away on Wednesday, September 28, at the age of 67 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Carol was born to Wanda and Eugene Metheny in Arkansas in 1954 and spent her childhood in the Southern United States before settling in the San Francisco Bay Area in her early adulthood.

Carol was a wife to her loving husband, Jozsef, before his passing in 2007. Together they shared one daughter, Stefeni, whom Carol loved deeply. Carol enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing with her family on Kentucky Lake during summers, and cherished time spent with her loved ones.

Carol worked in the dental field for over 40 years as a dental assistant and front office manager across the Bay Area before embarking on retirement in 2020.

Carol had a deep love for horses and she was a dedicated equestrian and owner of her cherished Palomino Pazi. Upon retirement, she could often be found taking care of her horse at Las Trampas Stables. Riding horses was her passion and she felt happiest riding the trails of the East Bay.

Those who knew Carol knew her as a fun-loving animal lover and dedicated mother and grandmother.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents Wanda and Eugene, and her husband Jozsef. Carol is survived by her beloved daughter Stefeni, son-in-law Giorgio and granddaughter Chiara. She leaves behind one sibling, Gary Metheny in North Carolina; nieces Chandra and Akila, and many loving relatives. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held on October 28th at 10AM at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Carol’s memory to Fight Colorectal Cancer

I always loved Carol's positivity and her smile. We didn't get to see her often, but when we could visit it was always fun. We will miss her so much. Ruth (Gary's wife)
