Carl “Bud” Swanson Jr at age 88 passed away peacefully March 13th, 2019 with family by his side at Kaiser Hospital in Fremont, CA. Carl was born on June 13th, 1930 to Carl Swanson Sr. and Myrle Bixby in Omaha, Nebraska. Carl was lovingly married to Helen Sharum nearly 57 years, from 1952 until she passed away in 2009. Carl is survived by his sister Carol, brother Ron and his three children, Cindy, Doug and Craig. Carl was a wonderful grandfather to Bridgett, Chris, Michael, Carly, Beth, Amanda and Katie. He was a great grandfather to Sam, Jack, Hayden, Olive, Porter and Henry. Carl and his family were long-time residents in Fremont, California with all the children graduates of Washington High School and a son and granddaughter graduates of University of California Berkeley. Carl can best be described as a man that could make anyone laugh. If there was a room full of people and he was there you would hear a room filled with laughter. His jokes, story-telling and antics were second to none. He loved people and he loved nothing more than to make someone smile and laugh and he was so very good at making it happen. If there was ever someone “the life of the party” it would be him. Carl was also a devoted family man, he loved and cared for his family so very much, which included many, many pets along the way. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and colleagues and so will all his jokes and stories.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 12:00 PM, Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont.
