Obituary For Armando "Cas" Volta Castiglioni

Armando passed away on May 24 after losing his battle with cancer. He was 82. Born in Cow Hollow in San Francisco, a city he truly loved and enjoyed, he graduated from Galileo High School and attended City College. After serving in the Navy, he joined P.G.& E. as an Engineering Draftsman and retired after a 35 year career to pursue full-time his love of family, golf, and travel. A caring and loving husband, dad, and grandfather, Armando always put his family first while embracing life. When he wasn?t attending his son?s sporting events or tending to his massive garden, he could often be found tearing it up on the golf course only to finish the round at the 19th hole.

Later in life, he traveled often with his wife of 49 years and travel partner, Helen. But he never lost his love and appreciation for the city he grew up in. From delis and bakeries in North Beach to some of the oldest and most classic restaurants and watering holes around the City, Armando was sure to have frequented, and most definitely had an opinion of, each of them. And if Heaven has a golf course, he?s sure to have already finished a round...Hit ?em straight and long Cas! You will be missed.

Armando is survived by his wife Helen Castiglioni, his sons Anthony and Dominic, granddaughter Sofia, and nieces Yvonne Arluck and Christine Castiglioni.

Armando?s friends and former colleagues are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday, June 20, 11am at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536.

I was so happy to have gotten to know Mando, if only for a short time. I will remember our fun time at the 49'ers game on his 80th birthday and when we Btoasted the Giants at lunch and cocktails at Mo Mo's!
