Obituaries

Andres, passed away peacefully on May 4, at the age of 98 years old. He is survived by his wife, Clarita Ylarde along with 6 of his children, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

He immigrated to the U.S. in 1981 and was a long time resident of Fremont, CA. From there, his first job was strawberry picking at Ardenwood Historic Farm and eventually became a custodian at Mission Convalescent Hospital in Fremont alongside his wife, whom also worked in the Laundry department.

Following his retirement in 1995, he has done many things. He loved making his infamous fried rice with garlic salt for the grandkids, they are rolled up into small little bite size balls and everyone would eat them alongside soy sauce as your dipping sauce. Andres, was also known locally in the community riding his bicycle every day, from picking up his prescriptions at CVS, around Lake Elizabeth to finding aluminum cans and plastic water bottles to recycle. It came to a point where the neighborhood would leave bags of cans especially for him! He loved purchasing donuts as breakfast for his grandkids and Taco Bell as their afternoon snack once school was over. Andres was an avid newspaper reader, as he would be completing every crossword puzzles and word search. He would play the lottery every chance he gets as he will be in the garden, exercising and planting new fruits and vegetables. Andres and his wife, every night at 6pm, would tune into the ETWN channel for an evening prayer.

But lastly, his most pride and joy, were his grandchildren. He adored and loved his grandchildren with all his heart and never missed out on every achievement.

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great (great) grandfather, we will miss you and cherish all the memories we’ve made. Until next time, Grandpa, we love you very much!
