Alfonso “Big Fonz” Castaneda, passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2021. He was born on December 14, 1967 at French Hospital in San Francisco, the first son of Eldo Alfonso and Yolanda Castaneda.

As a child he grew up in Fremont and graduated from American High in 1985. Following his graduation he worked with his father at the family business, Al’s Body Shop, where he learned and perfected the skill of automotive painting and Body Work. Up until he passed, he pursued his passion and skill of auto body work and was known around the Bay Area as one of the best. Alfonso is reunited in heaven with his father, Eldo Alfonso, his older sister Doris, and his two younger brothers Lil Alfonso and Billy Castaneda.

He is survived by his mother Yolanda and her husband Richard Prieto; his seven children: Alfonso (Meekus), Jesse, Mariah, Priscilla, Yoli, Olivia, Ruben and grandchildren: Analeya, Felicia, Jesse Jr., and Angelo, as well as, his younger brother Eric and many nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be held at 11am on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd, Fremont California.
